Interesting. I had mine in the Porterhouse in Westbourne and it poured and drank like a nitrokeg, but very nice nevertheless. Probably brewed by Marston's then, as they took over Ringwood some years ago. Apparently Shipyard in the US brew Ringwood's Old Thumper under licence from Ringwood (Marstons).Which Shipyard IPA? There are two. One is from the US, the other is brewed in the UK.
For me, they are very different in taste. I recently tried to make a clone version of the US version, using some rather sketchy info as the basis of the recipe. It turned out drinkable but nothing to get excited about. Actually turned out to be a bit of a chore getting through them. I made a St Austel Tribute clone at the same time and, for me, there wasn't a massive difference in the two.
