I was going to buy a few items from Kegthat at a total cost of about £13 but they want £7.50 delivery cost so no purchase.
Where I live, I expect to pay more, but BrewUK would only charge £8 for the first 30kg if I spend £65. What's annoying is I can't find a supplier that stocks enough things I want so I can reach the minimum spend for a good shipping price.

That’s the problem fewer HB shops to nip into and increasing delivery costs. We’re between a rock and a hard place.
I placed a small order with MM this week knowing I would pay £7.20 for delivery and there is a delay and there's specific instructions on their website for DPD.
MM as we know suspend trading at times so they can cope with orders. This time it's taken 48 hours to pack my order and DPD have forecast 5 days delivery time! I won't be in the day that said so I've had to push it on a day.

I ordered from MM Tuesday last week, delivered Friday, including a sack of malt.

We're so spoiled with Amazon (and other retailers) doing free delivery, I think it's created a negative feeling when we see any shipping charges at all from suppliers.
Even if they built in a few percent and stated 'free shipping' I'd feel better about it even if the total cost was the same.
The business I work for ships anything we sell free carriage if you spend more than £33. And we ship from the US direct to our customers in Europe.
It's all built into the margin of course, but customers seem to like it that way.

I shop around every time I need grains or hops, I always use CML for yeast now though. Usually I find CML cheaper for small quantities of grains and hops and Geterbrewed cheaper for larger quantities. I placed an order with Geterbrewed last Friday actually. Was shipped on Monday and arrived Wednesday morning. That was with DPD.
I went to Get 'er Brewed and shipping was £11.75 but jumped to £18.60 during checkout so I cancelled. I'll go back to B2B as their prices are very good. It's annoying that I will have to order one item from someone else. But £15 doesn't sound so bad now. And it will be properly packaged. Wilko charge £5 for shipping but everything arrives torn or dented.

Have to agree with the point on Amazon, actual shipping costs tend to be subject to negotiations and when you ship millions of packages you are in a much stronger position than when you ship a few thousand. That and home brew materials are often low value compared to their weight, a big chunk of the cost of grain is always going to be shipping. Unfortunately I suspect that at £11.99 Brew2Bottle at best are covering the surcharge charged by DPD for ‘remote area delivery’.
How much stuff were you ordering? Their shipping costs jump up if the weight of the order (plus packaging) exceeds 30kg.

Two beer kits and a kilo of Spraymalt - so about 8kg.
Blimey, I can see what prompted you to start this thread. I have to grit my teeth when I hit the “pay now” button with a £7 shipping charge. I’ll place an order for 25kg MO at a time and add on a couple kg other malts until I hit just under the 30kg limit.
The Homebrew Company charge £7.95 for delivery to mainland UK from their RoI premises for one box under 30kg. However whether this gets 'refined' for remote UK postcodes I have no idea.
It seems to be the same price for me. They have the wheat spraymalt but not the beer kits. Thanks for the tip. I'll bookmark them

I'm 40 minutes from Thurso where there is another member but that would be a faff. I'm on Scotland's north coast, right in the centre so it's 2 1/2 hours' drive north from Inverness and that's a long way to ship stuff. It gets handed over to Royal Mail or a local courier - we never see DPD or the like.
Perhaps you should have one huge delivery a year.
I keep using Wilko. If I send photos of damaged stuff they often refund me in full. None of the dented cans has leaked so I used them. I think their kits are great value. I'm also keen to keep trying new brews. It's to cold/wet to use my all-in-one outdoors.
