Hate doing it, but have few options...

I have 12 of these PIDs left on eBay if anyone's considering using one in a HERMs or whatever.

Below cost price as I have to make room for a load of STC-1000s due in in a couple of weeks' time. This is a genuine bargin, imo.

Just bought one. Probably should have done some research first but I need one for my build and you were cheaper than China so I went for it!

These things are very easy to use if yo have any confidence at all with coloured string.

I got mine from another source, but paid similar money, if you really need help BigYin has the wiring diagram posted in the how to forum :)

Can these be used to switch on and off a tubular heater in a fermentation cabinet as they stand or do they need some other bits added ?

Am hopeless with modern contraptions....

The STC1000 is better kit for a fermentation cabinet, Cedaronis can sell youu one of those for a very similar price, you will also not need a Sold State Relay with the STC1000 making it cheaper overall :)

The PID is best used for a hot liquor tank, if you use it on a fridge it can lead to the motor driving the refredgerant around burning out due to being turned on and off to fast.

PM the OP, he sells STC1000 for very sensible money and you'll get it nice and quickly as well.

In fact buy both, make up a HLT and a fermenting fridge at the same time :D

I like spending other people's money, it is nearly as much fun as spending my own and hurts less when my wife see the credit card bill :D

Just a heads up on this: I have no STC-1000s in at the moment, save one I have put aside for a guy who says he'll pay in a few days' time, and so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Next delivery could easily be at least two weeks away on STC.

I have someone who might take the remainder of these PIDS off my hands soon, but yes, they are often used more on HLTs, and certainly not on fridges.

I think that's it. Oh, sorry, I don't have any thermowells or sensors or SSRs for these PIDS.

Thanks for reading.

yep understand...I keep getting my PID SSR and STCC's mixed up.

They look OK to me, I've used the heat sink vendor and delivery is pretty good.

Make sure you only run the one element off that SSR though, it's rated at 25 Amps, but the general advice is to only load them to 50% if you want long life.

Back in stock now either on the ebay link below in my sig. for basic STC-1000 or the Cedaronics site for made up ready-to-use units.

Have you still got the cheap PID's? I noticed your Ebay post said you had 14 but only sold 12. If you have one left I could take 1 off your hands.

I've got two left, bob. They are on my website, but I'll let them go for £18 inc p+p. I don't want to put them on eBay again as I get clobbered for their fees. I'll pm you outside of here.

I've ruined two tubular heaters now by using a PT100 and SSR, they pulse very quickly and after 2 brews the heater expires. I'm trying a different manuafacturer of heater now to see if this helps, I found one I bought for the boiler room years ago but didn't need and it feels more substantial but I think it will end up going the same way. I'm not conversent with this PID but you can't do anything about this in the PID I have. I don't think the STC100 have the same issues.

Cheers
Andy
