Ever put together a recipe with leftovers and found you have accidently created something rather special?

I love stout and the following recipe gave me a gorgeous sweet silky smooth 5% oatmeal stout that tastes like liquid chocolate. So nice I had to share;

23 litres
Mash 67c for 60 minutes
Boil 60 Minutes

Maris Otter 4.1kg (69.4%)
Porridge Oats from Aldi 0.57kg (9.6%)
Dark Crystal 0.24kg (4.1%)
Light Crystal 0.24kg (4.1%)
Roasted Barley 0.19kg (3.2%)
Chocolate Malt 0.19kg (3.2%)
Brown Malt 0.19kg (3.2%)
Black Malt 0.19kg (3.2%)

Fuggles 40g for 60 Minutes (17 IBU)
EKG 40g for 15 Minutes (11 IBU)

Yeast is Safale S-04 (Maybe use S05 if you want it a little drier)

OG 1.054
FG 1.016

ABV 5%

Enjoy!

Sometimes the universe works in your favor. I like S04 in a stout.

Too many ingredients for me but if I had it all laying around I would probably do similar.

Congratulations.

All the Best,
D. White
