My S30 valve on my keg seems to let out pressure when it builds up inside. Is this a safety feature so the keg can't be over pressurised. It lets it escape via a rubber band style seal on the outside at the bottom of the thread.

it should have one yes, if you turn the tap to pour is it very foamy and carbonated? most of our keg beers (especially in the rotokeg) are overcarbonated for the first few pints when we prime instead of using gas.

if it's holding pressure okay, you're probably fine but keep an eye on it in case it's gradually letting out pressure.

I've not put my beer in in yet. I was sterilising the keg when it happened. I was swilling the water around which was creating pressure inside the keg and I could here the pressure escaping. Didn't want to add my brew until I knew it was ok

if not pressured and letting gas out it may be the inside little rubber is not pushed up into its correct place , it should be all the way on touching the top which covers a little hole so when you inject gas it opens letting gas in and pushes itself up instead of if it was lower it would shoot off into the keg (like mind did) just check it even post a pic if not sure

Cheers folks

the inside 1 looks fine but the outer 1 looks a little like its misshaped but maybe its just me , mine fit snug yours looks a little loose , not totally fitted all the way up in a near perfect line , maybe it was just because the water inside was a little too hot when you cleaned it causing air expansion and all is fine after all , however you can buy new rubbers for about 40p i got some in my local home brew shop maybe best to change the outer 1

It was already made when I bought it and the dude in the shop did say he had tested it and it was fine. Was just a bit sceptical when I heard it starting to hiss. I'll give it a go and see how it is

So I've tried to rinse the keg with cold water after it was sterilised. It still hisses with the cold water out of the top of the rubber band. It's like the band isn't tight enough and is letting out air. I was thinking about adding a jubilee clip to it to make a seal. Would this do the trick you recon?

if you do that then it would no longer be a safety release valve , btw did you get the rubbers wet with hot water or with sterilizing solution may be you knackered it that way , in the instructions that come with mine it goes on about don't do that as will damage rubber etc i would just buy some replacement rubbers for it , very cheap.

I may well just do that tomorrow :D I didn't get it wet no.

I'll see if the dude in the shop will replace it if not I'll buy some more.

Cheers for all the help. It's good to know there are helpful people out there who will give the time to help newbies like me
