Laughs aside there is a serious reason for my post.

Lets hope there isnt as much of a backlash this year as in the last 2.
The nomadic herders are facing terrible hardships due to the squeemish nature of European markets.
They are very proud of the meat and pelts produced by the animals in their care and as such take great care of their animals, however it should be remarked upon that they are battling against nature in order to retain the herds in fairly inhospitable landscape.
Veterinarians are few and far between and too expensive for these herdsmen, animals that can't be cured or cant run with the herd are culled. Their sacrifice keeps the rest of the herd safe. Often older animals are culled and left for the wolves and predators to keep them at bay from the young. A fed wolf is less likely to attack.

Herders are dwindling with the young folk going off to the big cities rather than following the traditional ways.

A way of life being forgotten, slowly, as the older generation pass away.

and I'm all for venison thank you, reindeer not been available around here as far as I'm aware. Ostrich burgers are good.
Can't see anything to put me off eating horse if it was produced commercially. I eat cow sheep pig duck rabitt etc etc..... Stop being cruel to Lentils is my cry....and carrots..

Just for you PD...

Can you hear the carrots scream?
As they’re ripped out of the earth.
Or the cries of newborn pod held peas?
At their boiling water birth.

Can you feel the plant recoil?
As we pluck tomatoes red.
Or bear the crushing pain of corn?
At the mill to make our bread.

Can you hear the grasses plead?
As they’re sliced with mowers blade.
Or feel life ebb from cabbages?
At the market, cut and weighed.

Can you touch a lettuce heart?
As it beats its final beat.
Or sympathise with spinach?
At the wilting touch of heat.

Can you witness a potato’s terror?
As its eyes first spy the knife.
Or weep over an onion?
At the ending of its life.

Can you bear the sweet corn’s anger?
As its silky hair is stripped.
Or sense the sadness in salsify?
At its rootstock being chipped

Can you truly say meat is murder?
As you think of what we do
Or do you ignore the truth?
All we eat is living too

My kids have happily eaten Bambi and Thumper (Game) pie, the cast of Watership down (Rabbit) Stew and Babe sausages (pork) ...

... it was the kids that named the foods

This is how dramatic that clown from the campaign is 'lidl are selling dead reindeer', well they're not going to be selling live reindeer now are they?
What a pillock.
