Hi all

My mate and I have just bottled our first batch of bitter and are now planning our next kit. We have been lucky enough to have been given a Rotokeg from a friends dad but I suspect it needs some new bits. It is a round keg with a large black screw lid. The lid has three metal fixtures, one is a pressure let off which is marked green then red if pulled too far up which obviously lets out excess gas. The main one in the middle is threadded and has a small hole down the centre, I presume this is where the Co2 bulb is placed and a cap screwed down over it. The only problem is that it does not have the cap or there doesn't seem to be a piercing needle in the middle? Am I completely off track here or does any body know if I need to get spares, if so where from??

If filled with beer does it need to be pressurised or will the priming sugars create enough gas to pressurise the keg enough to drain the whole batch out??

Phill :hmm:

It sounds like you have the type of valve that uses the S30 Canisters (£17ish new then £5ish for a refill)

It will depends on how fast you drink it weather or not you'll be able to drain it out using its own co2.
