Hi All,

Does anyone have a tried and tested recipe for a Rose / Blush style wine ??

I was very impressed with my friends WOW .. however it's not quite my tipple, so was wondering whether there were any other recipes that you can recommend ??

Cheers

I made one with a 1L tesco Mango and Apple juice and 1L apple and raspberry juice with 1L WGJ in it. It's turned into a nice light rose/blush wine - although I feel I would have benefitted from adding raisins during the ferment to add a bit more body. I can post the recipe later for you if you want :)

I make a light easy Rose with 1l RGJ, 1l Apple Juice, water and about 800g of sugar (plus appropriate yeast, pecolase etc).

Needs a month or two in the bottle but comes out quite nice.

Sorry forthe late response guys .. been really busy at work so haven't had the time to get back to the forum.

ingypingy2 could you post your recipe please ??

Do you both find that you have to back sweeten alot ??

Thanks again.

Yes BigAdd, not a problem, will post it for you later tonight (when I'm not sneaking onto the forum at work and actually have the recipe to hand lol!)

I did back sweeten the recipe I will be posting later, but I am partial to a medium sweet wine, it all really depends on personal taste. I add a little at a time, give a good shake until sugar has dissolved, then taste again. When it's how I like it, I'm done :)

Mango, Apple & Raspberry Wine

1L Tesco Apple & Raspberry Juice (from 1.5L carton)
1L Mango Apple Juice (from 1.5L carton)
1L Red Grape Juice
1L White Grape juice
500g sugar dissolved in warm water
1 cup strong cold black tea
1tsp pectolase
1/2 tsp glycerine
1tsp yeast nutrient
1tsp wine yeast

Put ingredients into DJ, pitch yeast & ferment out

S.G 1.086
F.G 0.993
Approx 12.6%

It might be worth considering adjusting the sugar and adding raisins to DJ for fermentation, the wine will develop as it matures, but a quick taste at bottling left me thinking it could do with a little extra something to give it a bit more depth/body :) not a bad initial taste though. I'm leaving it to age in the bottles for a bit now, but another taste a couple of weeks after bottling has def improved with subtle hints of the mango and raspberry really starting to come through :) a very pleasant blush/rose which has met with a lot of approval so far, should be really good in a few months :)

ingypingy, the Mango and the apple and raspberry, were they juice (from concentrate) or juice drink? All i can ever seem to find of both are juice drink with loads of additives. If it was the one with additives did a normal 20mins of the hob take care of it?

Cheers

Hi Aggy

It was 1.5L cartons of Tesco own brand ready to drink juice, I used 1L from a carton of Mango & Apple and 1L from a carton of Apple & Raspberry, you should find them round in the aisle with the cartons of OJ/Apple Juice/Grape juice and the like! No boiling required, just bung it in the DJ and you're ready to go :)
