One to miss for me

Man sitting on a trotting horse nicely dressed in a top hat! (is this SPORT???)

One to watch:

Young females with scanty shorts jumping about in the sand....oh and there is a ball in there somewhere I think, but it's not essential!
(definitely good sport!)

Brilliant ... :thumb: :thumb:

... right up until you discover that there's a Men's Volleyball Tournament as well.

You mean like this

We should have known it would be a disaster when they shot their mascot just after the opening ceremony. Way to go Rio.

Don't know why I didn't read about this earlier.

Not only is the Jaguar nearly extinct, but using one at the event was also illegal, according to Ipaam, the Amazonas state government environmental authority that oversees the use of wild animals.

So, break their own law and shoot an endangered species as part of your opening ceremony. Nice.

Almost as epic as in 1988 at the opening of the Seoul Olympics they released a flock of doves - which settled in the olympic flame bowl - which they then lit. Crispy hors d'oeuvres anyone?

Ah, forgot about this one today, a well dressed woman on a dancing horse, supposed to be dancing to some mundane background music but I reckon the horse was deaf as there was absolutely zero correlation between the trotting and the music!
The sad thing is she got a GOLD medal for THAT!

I'd go though the list, anything that is marked by style would be gone.

Bin List.

Synchronous Swimming
Ribbon Dancing
Dancing Horses
Diving
Trampoline
Boxing if on points. Knock em down n drag em out.

Anything else that doesn't have clear scoring.

Come on add to the list :)

Aamcle

If i remember right they used to have scoring for every landed punch in boxing why they switched i will never know i think it was a fairer way of judging the fights.

I think they should take everything back to basics, i have watched archery but all those weights and counterbalances spoil it for me, i basic Robin Hood set up is all they should be allowed.

Next Olympics will see the introduction of smart phone events recognised as sports;

Track cycling whilst texting with no hands on the handlebars

Woman with three kids pushing pram across the cycle track whilst on the phone.Points awarded for style and control (of the kids)

Snowboarding/skiing over an obstacle course whilst sending a 1000 word text without crashing!

All usual activities that we see every day, just need a set of rules and a National body to oversee!

please dont get me started on this, its both upsetting and angering at the way they dealed with this poor animal:nono:

With you being so upset and angry I think that maybe you haven't actually been to Rio de Janeiro and therefore haven't seen how they treat their own people.

Rio de Janeiro is an amazing city of contrasts.

There is a strip of some of the most expensive hotels in the world fronting Copacabana beach and from there a ten minute walk away from the sea will take you to some of the worse slums in the world.

Please check out this link ...

... and you will realise that you should perhaps direct your anger to something much more important than the killing of any animal. :thumb::thumb:
