I have been seaching the forum for recomendations. I have got a hold of 50L grade 304 stainless beer keg. I am planning to build a RIMS for 50L. I would like to design the system using as little bends or corners in the piping. I would like to use all stainless piping. I am looking at pumps, I believe the solar pumps wired into a plug is a good option. Could anyone suggest the pipe sizes, couplings, and threades I should look for.

hi, welcome to the forum

http://www.bes.co.uk/ do a range of stainless pipe for threaded fittings though I think you would have to cut the threads yourself! BSP is the standard for pipe work in britain (British Standard Pipe..........says it all eh!) they do a stainless pipe for compression fittings as well which is cheaper but your going to pay more for the elbows etc with that option!

The solar pump is a good little pump! I have the 12W version (you need to email Peter at HERE as the web site only has the 6W version listed!

You are going to get a few replies to this post reminding you that KEGWATCH do not take kindly to people butchering brewery kegs to make stuff from. Have you got the keg legally (and that doesn't mean given by a landlord as he/she doesn't own it!) Don't want to preach but just giving you a heads up if you were unaware!

Hope your build goes well, keep us posted with a picture filled build thread! :D

And if that keg is legally yours, make SURE you depressurise it before taking an angle grinder to it. Otherwise you will die.
