Went into my local R&B and dun dun durrrrr! There was beer, in the same bottles as the bottles I get from the (£9 for 15) home brew shop!

Its on special offer too! 3 for £3... So for 40 pence more they come with beer!

My local HSB is out of stock of bottles at the moment so I must resort to this and I am forced to drink all the beer as my lager(ish beer) is nearly done.

Here is their web page, http://www.barnsleybeercompany.co.uk/

I got Bobby Dazzler and Barnsley Blonde so Ill let you know wht they taste like later tonght. :drunk:

I have to say I wouldn't buy bottles. I strongly recommend you go visit your local and ask the Landlord if you can have any Brown bottles that would otherwise be thrown away. I would visit all of your locals in your vicinity. Brown bottles protects the beer from sunlight which may skunk the beer, clear glass and green glass do not protect the beer the same. Initially you may have to just accept what you can get then as your stash of bottles increases you can throw out the clear and green bottles.

I have also chatted up the lads in my local council re-cycling centre and they have come up trumps with about 50 swing-top bottles over the months.

Rule 1 of home brewing don't buy bottles and scrounge where you can. :thumb:

I used to agree, then had 200 swing tops imported from deutchland and have never looked back

Rule Number 1, feel free to make your own mistakes! :thumb:

ok, Here is the review. Bearing in mind i might not have any taste...

Style: Pale Ale.
Tasting note: A golden, glittering strong pale ale, well balanced and with a European combination of Slovenian hops and a unique German finish.
ABV: 4.8%

Tasted better earlier when it was warm. Chilled the first sip is a real twanger which leads me to question if there is something on the out side of the bottle? After you get over that its fairley standard. Nice and clear. Only the slightlest drop of sediment. It does have a bit of German taste and I'd agree it's balanced on sweetness and bitterness although only when warm, when its chilled there is a big nut sack twang. I wouldn't get any more though.

I will re-taste the Barsnley Blonde in a bit, this one was bad warm so i am hopping now they are chilled this will be the better of the two and can re-sell itself. Here is the blurb:

Style: Precious Golden Ale.
Tasting note: Shimmers and shimmies with an attractive and seductively golden full bodied flavour that is sure to tantalise your taste buds. At 5.0%, with a fruity bitter after-taste and deliciously satisfying aroma, this is a blonde to truly savour!
ABV: 5.0%

Ok, this is allot better chilled. This is actually nice! Quite drinkable. No first sip twang like when it was warm. I would actually recommend this one its not over powering nor flavourless, its refreshing. Just dont drink it warm!

Well this wasn't too bad in the end. I'll drink all the blondes first and the dazzler later when Im not fussed. The labels come off better warm and only a light scrub with a greeny and water is needed. Drink the dazzler warm and the blondey cold... There are no serving instructions.

Not a fan of the Barnsley Brew Company beers to be fair, I think they should spend more time on making their beer better rather than putting their effort into poor marketing techniques.

I'm underwhelmed with the Barnsley Beer Company's stuff too. Saw a similar offer a few years back in R & B so bought a selection. They all tasted either yeasty trub like.
