I’ve got a 2 handle bottle capper that is capable of capping 26mm or 29mm bottles. I’ve now got enough Lambic style bottles that I thought I’d do a gallon batch of sour into them. But buggered if I can reverse the capper. Does anyone have one of these and have you ever managed to successfully change it?!

Are there different types? I have one, the cappers can be screwed off and on. And normally there are two steel plates in the sides that you need to reverse too, in function of the wider neck of the bottle. Use a good lineman's pliers for this, though.

Yep it’s the steel plates I can’t remove for love nor money

I also had difficulty with that.

They are stuck with a snap system, a small notch in the plastic locks the plates in their place. Insert a screwdriver carefully between the plastic and one plate to carefully lift the plastic, so that the notch is lifted, then use a pliers to pull out the plate.

Or is it a small notch in the plate, in a pinhole in the plastic? Either way, that is how I did it in the beginning, now I can mostly pull the plates out with only a pliers.

I did it. As described by @chthon using a very small screwdriver. That must be how it is ‘supposed’ to be done, but it was so difficult I won’t be putting them back. I’ve got a spare capper that will be my 26mm and this ‘reversible’ one will be my 29mm one! Thanks for the assistance!

Oh and before some smart **** pipes up, yes I know I should get a bench capper!
