:wha: Guten Tag from Upstart,

Please does anyone know how many Kl's of Grapes (Black) I need to make a gallon of good Red Wine, for the one

I have just started, I only had 4 1/2 Kls ,can I use water to make it up to 1 gallon or will it come out very weak,

to get it going I added 1/2 Lt of new Wine (The locals drink lots of this ) and it's frothing well in the bucket.

All my previous wine has been fruit,Plum / Apple / Cherry, never Grape, I would be grateful for any Tips,

although all the Grapes have now been picked (our Landlord has around 128.000 vines) I hope to get with it next year.

Ps I do not know what type of Grapes these are, only that they are Commercial ,each Grape is only the size

of a Pea and have loads of sugar and a very good taste.

Cheers Mike.

Not brewed any wine yet myself mate but have a look in the wine section there's plenty of advice there, Welcome to the forum

Guten Abend!

About seven kilos of grapes to make 4 and a half litres of red wine, or 15 lbs to the gallon in English.

My first attempt at red wine from my own merlot grapes this year I had had 5 kg and it wasn't enough, had to augment with two and a half kilos of blackberries.

Sure you could add water but it would taste thin and not recommended. Add some other grape juice or use your fruit wine making experience and add something appropriate, even rehydrated raisins.

My actual experience is limited granted, but I researched just this before I made mine.
