We regularly make the Range store make your own Rosé wine kit and occasionally make the Red for a change we have noticed the Red takes a lot longer to ferment and its seems a much less vagarous fermentation compared to the rosé even when using a heat pad, has anyone any idea why this is and have you noticed the same?

I noticed the same when I bought a Solomon Grundy red wine kit of late. I followed the instructions to a tee. Despite this, fermentation only really kicked off very late - even after the stuff I added to kick the fermentation into death - it kept fermenting more vigorously given the temps were kept stable throughout with no heat band.

This cabernet sauvignon solomon grundy gold kit that I purchased, I've not done yet. But I am leaving this to do its thang for at least two weeks and going to ignore the instructions till the latter stages of the brew. It may be just a thang with these kits overall. May be the instructions were meant for brewing in summer. /shrug.
