i want to do a strong one next or after my free bitter one ..

only new so as easy kit as possible at the nicest price . larger , beer or anything else that come to mind

is there anything harder or more expensive about a kit with % of alcohol in ?

cheers d

depends what style your after and how strong you want it. you can try buying a geordie or youngs or one of the budget kits, increasing the sugar and/ or dry malt extract. otherwise you invest in a good 2 can kit like woodfordes or milestones and increase the abv. ive brewed the milestones raspberry wheat beer twice now, its superb and a decent kick off it at 5.5%. the only thing is if you add too much sugar to any kit it will make it a bit 'thin' ie less body so better investing in maybe 1kg spraymalt then adding 500g sugar or something. i would recommend youngs scottish heavy aswell, currently in my cornie from 27/12/11 and ive drank a good 10 pints so far, its one of the best ive done and only been kegged for 3 weeks.got a youngs pilsner fermenting at the mo aswell.right ill shut up now, ive taken over ur thread!

I did a Santas Winter Warmer a while ago, it is 5.7% as standard but i added some extra spraymalt to mine so turned out about 6.5%. Tried a bottle on saturday night, its pretty strong :drunk:

If you want quality strong kits, and are rpepared to amture them sufficiently, (two months minimum) then go for the Brewferm kits.

They are not cheapest per pint, but they make strong beers.

I bottled a Brewferm Diablo at the end of November, tried one the other night and its strong!!!

Not 100% ready yet I would say, but I always planned to leave it for 6 months before drinking it.

Only problem is that its a 9L brew so you have to make it last and not drink it all at once.

Cheers , i keep herring about spraymalt . do i add this instead of sugar or as well as ? or half of each ?

+1 for the Brewferm kits!

I made a lovely Abdij one just before xmas @ 8% abv and my cousin made the same kit, both turned out superb.

I have done a couple of brewferm kits at around 8% ,one was the grand cru which is lovely after several months, the other is a tripple which still has a few months left but I'm sure will be just as good

I have a tripple on order myself so looking forward to brewing this (Thats when the cowboy website decided to send it out that is.)

I have been doing this for a year now, always used a good site or my local shop without any issues.

A friend sent me over a mail that had some offers so we did a big order to save a few quid, no mention on the site that everything was out of stock at the time - two weeks on and the money gone from my account and I’m still waiting. I like the fact I didn’t mention any names but people seem to know who I’m talking about

I bet I know what company you are on about, used myself 3 times and 100% success rate on messing up every order, I remember waiting 3 months before... And being threatened with legal action for a review I placed somewhere....I could go on but they aren't worth the time of day, needless to say I don't use them at all, my next order will be with the forum sponsors when I place one.

Anyway back to the topic, I am going to try and leave all my tripples in the bottle until christmas and see what they are like over a year In the bottle. The gran cru really started to improve between 3-6 months bottled, and it was even better after that, I still have a few left which I will also try and keep for next christmas. Brewferm pills is also a nice one if you wait, its like something slightly similar to Stella, but obviously nicer.

Id like to give all of their range a go as so far I have been happy with all.

I wonder if that could be the same site which listed stuff as being in stock which wasn't, will only accept written (not email, actual letters) as cancellation and still has my money from last October :hmm:

Perhaps they should be named and shamed...

Seems like it is the same company. We got a partial order but they have been waiting for £20 worth of stuff to come in since October!
