Hi All

Lots of threads and discussion about harvesting yeast, storing and re-using. I have a couple of gallons of TC on the go at the moment, should be finished in a week or so ready to bottle.

Assuming I will rack into another demijohn for a bit of priming I will be leaving the trub/lees in the original DJ.

So, the question. Can I just load the original DJ up with some more juice to do it again without any faffing about? It was normal cider yeast, packet said suitable for a 23 litre brew.

It seems too simple to be realistically do-able but thought I would ask anyway.

That would be the lazy technique. Scrape off some of the crud from the inside of your FV and taste it. You don't what it anywhere near your next beer. Swirl and pour the slurry remaining in the FV to a couple of sterilised jams jars or similar. Store in the fridge and use within a week or so. Any longer make a starter.

I am always reusing yeast for my cider, I just move a couple of pints from the previous batch on to the next, I have been doing this for the last few years.

Funnily enough I was only thinking about doing this yesterday. I was thinking of buying some Apple & Pear this time.
Here in Australia we have catalogues with the supermarket specials. Unfortunately I must have looked at last weeks when I saw it was half price.
Maybe I'll just use up some of the Apple juice I have lying around.
