Hi master brewers

Just a quick one for you I've primed my last batch of lager with one coopers carbonation drop per 500ml pet bottles is that enough as I read since somewhere on the forum to use 1.5 to 2 drops for lager

Being a newbie have I ruined it

I did the same with cider mate and it was nowhere near enough IMO. I like a nicely sparkling cider and with the drops at 1 per 500ml it was almost as flat as a pancake.

I didn't read the instructions on the back, it wasn't until I had already bottled most of my brew that I noticed it was for coopers 378ml and 750ml bottles. I honestly don't think you would go far wrong with 2 per 500ml bottle.

My advice would be to rack with sugar in a little boiled water from now on, the carbonation drops are hopeless.

Cheers Scot

I only bottled today with screw on lids is it worth taken them of & putting another drop in or is it to late ?

It should be fine bud. If I were in your shoes I would be running the risk. Nothing worse than a flat lager. If you could break them into halves then I would probably add 1/2 per bottle rather than the full one. I don't think 2 would be an issue but rather safe than sorry :D

Just my two pence worth. I bottles my first brew into 1 litre bottles with two drops each. They seem very 'firm' and a little shake produces a frothy head, but I have not opened one yet.

Was this with a lager?
