Hi all,

I have 20 bottles of Admirals reserve in PET bottles that has been in there for 1 week.
It's hardly carbed yet so was wondering if i could pour the brew from the PETs into glass bottles and re prime?
Would this have any detrimental effcts on the beer if the glass bottles are clean and sterile and i pour carefully without any sloshing?

I want to do this for storage reasons!

Andy

They have been stored at around 18dgrs so no problems there, they normally take 2 weeks to fuly carb and i added 1/2tsp to each bottle.

Im not re bottling because i havn't got secondary fermentation, i want to re bottle to purely get them into glass!

I have a wherry on and it'll be finished in a week and ready for bottling then.
I want them in glass to store them in the shed and i want to keep the PET's for my next one Sundew.

So just wondered if it's ok to re bottle at this stage?

Are they Cooper's PET bottles? If so, they should store OK. Moving to other bottles sounds like a lot of hassle.

Yes they are the coopers ones.
I want to use them for the Sundew though as that'll be getting drunk at the summer party and i don't want glass bottles about.

I want to store the Admirals and the Wherry in glass, 20 of each.
I'ts really no hastle to rebottle 20 bottles, not with Videne my bottle tree and rinser.
Probably take me half an hour!

I've never tried it or heard of anyone trying it, so maybe give a few a try and see in a week or 2 if they're ok, worth a bash I suppose :-)

I recently had to bottle/re-prime 7 litres of stout after a king keg failure.
I added 3g of sugar per litre and its been in the warm for a couple of weeks, some sediment has fallen to the bottom of the bottles so something has happened to the suspended bit of yeast.
The bottles are quite firm too, but this could be from the vigorous sugar mixing each bottle got.
I put a bottle in the fridge yesterday and plan to try it over the weekend before deciding if its worth keeping the rest.
I'll let you know..............

It's worked!!!! :thumb:

Excuse Mrs KCs garish sockwear!!

Andy, i'll give you a straight answer, ...go for it, i think it would work out fine. What have you got to lose, the transfered beer will be fine, reprime with a 1/4 teaspoon of sugar per bottle. Havnt tried it myself, but i would certainly do that in your position :thumb:
