Raspberry Lowicz (12%)
One of the cheapest (Lowicz £1 when on offer at Tesco) yet nicest drinks I've made. Lovely chilled sat in the sun in the back garden. I wouldn't say this tastes like a wine more like a strong still cider and if you used a full bottle of syrup I suspect it would be more like an alcopop. Make up 3 d.j.'s at the same time as one won't last long.
4.5l
1l apple juice
2/3 bottle Lowicz syrup (one bottle for bigger raspberry taste but 2/3 works for me and means 3 d.j.'s from two bottles)
topped up with water.
750g sugar
1/3 tsp citric acid
yeast (Garvin fruit wine yeast)
yeast nutrient
pectolase
s.g. 1090
after clearing
f.g. 995
Sweeten to taste (it really needs a little sweetener to bring out the raspberry)
From start to drinking 3-4 weeks (as usual best if bottled for a week or two).
