I don't remember seeing this much crap on top of a brew before. I don't really want to put a hydrometer in that.

It's had a week and a half ish I think, so it'll be getting on for done. But I think I'd have to spoon crap off the top to test it.

Never had this before! It doesn't stink or anything. Thoughts anyone?

Leave it be another week, the cool it down see if it drops out, doesn't look to bad to be honest

I stirred one like that back into the brew, looks minging but it's just yeast at the end of the day, it'll drop on its own eventually.

Give it another while. I've had similar before. It was more lumpy and segregated if that's the right description rather than a blanket like that. I couldn't get it all to drop. Racked, primed and bottled it anyway and it was good beer!

Yeah, I've had ones like that before. What yeast is it? I've seen in with the top croppers Wyeast American Ale II and Belgian Strong Ale, but above all with Northwest Ale.

I get a thick krausen like that with my Gales yeast. Itll drop eventually but can take a while. You can just rack from below if its still there when you want to package the beer

Just had a look at the photograph and my first thought was "I hope it doesn't eat meat!":wave:On the plus side, you get a variety of krausens with different yeasts + different brews so if it smells good and tastes good then you can be pretty sure that it will be okay given sufficient time.:gulp:
