Hi all, I'm getting to the exciting stage of my first brew - stout. It's been conditioning for 3 weeks and i'm keen to try my first glass. I'm using the tap-a-draft system, which involves conditioning in 10 pint PET bottles, then attaching a draft system with CO2.
In the next couple of days I will attach the draft system but does it need sterilising? None of the instructions or videos i've watched says it does, but I was under the impression everything needs sterilising, or does that only have to happen during the fermentation and conditioning process.
Sorry if it seems a stupid question - all very new to me!
Many thanks

If you are going to drink the 10 pints in 2 days then no need to sanitise but if it's going to be sat longer than that then yes, sanitise it to avoid the chance of nasties growing.

everything that comes into contact with wort/beer post boil should be thoroughly sanitized. I'd recommend starsan no-rinse solution.

Many thanks - seems sensible. As for how long it takes me to drink, I guess that will depend on how it tastes, hopefully gone in couple of days!!
