Hi all. I started a Woodforde's Wherry (my first ever beer) 10 days ago. It fermented like a steam train, and when I checked the SG last night it was at 1.012, but its still burping every 30 secs or so. Should I bottle it now or leave it to ferment out? Also, the sample in the trial jar seemed very pale. Tasted ok tho. Any advice gratefully accepted

Fermentation is over when you have a consistent SG over 2-3 days. It's worth leaving it a bit longer to clean up and clear regardless. Be patient.

Congrats on beer #1.

Cool :thumb: thanks chaps. Bottling wednesday night after work then

Bit of advice....Never plan a day to bottle....Its done when its done and not before..
What I tend to do is let it fully ferment out and then decide when to bottle.

OK, thanks Johnnyboy. I'll take another reading tonight and see where its at. Hopefully be able to do it on Wednesday, but if not, the weekend will do :thumb:

Yep - don't rush it - I sometimes leave my beer in the FV for a total of three weeks - a few days here or there aren't going to hurt it.

Its usually a very sweet beer for the first few weeks in the bottle too. Try and leave it for a good month/6 weeks, its a super drink after that.

Well, checked my gravity again last night and my Wherry has definitley stopped at 1.012 and I couldn't believe how clear it was :D amazing. Of course I slurped the 50ml or so in the sample jar  it's gorgeous and a very nice colour too. So, bottling tonight when I get home from work, along with 2 gallons of wine and a gallon of cider. Busy night for me

Thanks for the advice chaps. Those extra few days have made a huge difference
