I just transferred a bunch of stout to bottles and I have one bottle that is only about half to 3/4 of the way full. Will it still carbonate normally? Will it be oxidized? Can I just pour some red wine in there and see what happens? I'd like to try that, but I don't want it to explode.

You really only want an inch otherwise you'll risk oxidising as you say. As it's only one I wouldn't worry about it. In fact, stick the wine in, it'll probably taste horrible but at least it will satisfy your curiosity.

i would bottle it , i do it every brew and it carbs up fine , i just open it first , usually after about a week.

This is what I went with. Thanks for the tips guys.

The red wine idea was just out of the blue. The wife had an open bottle sitting there and I was tempted to pour some in as an experiment. I'm still kind of curious what it would have been like...
