Can you put back the brew into the main fermenting vessel after taking some out to test the SG? In my eyes i cant see why not if everything used in the processed is sterrile? Or am i way off the ball?

Theoretically you can if you have sanitised everything but I would advise against it. You only need to take a couple of samples really (unless you get a stuck ferment) so assuming your trial jar is 100ml, you are only wasting about half a pint if not less. Better to do that than risk losing an entire batch because you didn't get it quite as clean as you thought :nono:

I tend to drink the contents of the trial jar anyway - it won't hurt you and you get to know how a brew is going to turn out :thumb:
