Hey all
I've decided to buy a 1 barrel system for my cellar, unfortunately its max height is around 6ft so I cant have a gravity fed system so im converting to pumps. My question is what effects does pumping wort have on the quality of beer compared to a gravity fed system? Does the aggressive pumping action degrade the quality? Has anybody ever noticed any changes converting to pumps from a gravity fed system?

Any advice much appreciated :thumb:

I can't see it making any difference to the beer. Just a more complicated set up to clean etc. After all most, if not all commercial breweries use pumps from big to small.

One of the main reasons we brew though is because of the "quality" from the commercial breweries!
I don't know if it would change the beer/quality but i supose it depends on the pump you use, some pumps could cause airation to the hot wort which isn't good.
Im sure there will be a suitable pump and no doubt one of the guys on herewill point you in the right direction.
