Pumps seizing

Has anyone had a mag coupled pump seize on them ?
My new GP20/12 just buzzed when I turned it on the other day. I stripped the impeller housing down, rebuilt, same problem, stripped it down again, sorted.
There was nothing in the impeller housing at all...certainly nothing to jam the impellers.
Trouble is my HERMS pump did the same at the end of the brew...hoping to look at it tonight :hmm:

Hi V1,
I know there is very little clearance between the impeller, housing and cover, if there was any discrepency in the allignment it may only show up when the pump is running and hot, also tave a look at the mounts and see if there is any strain on the pump body due to its mounted position.

I to had this problem when I overtightened the impeller housing bolts. But half a turn off and not longer stuck! Me being Hgv engineer mean I do things up tight :?

As it happened, I did think the GP's bolts were a little tight and reset the torque on the screwdriver when re-setting the housing the second time.
I also found the bolts on the Morebeer pump a little tight, so I've slackened them off a little.
Before slackening them off I tried the pump and it worked. I'll have a look tomorrow to see if there is any strain on the housing from the associated pipework
