Eh up,

My LHBS had some stock of these in the bargain bucket. I am now the owner of some progress, challenger and northdown hops.

I have never used Northdown or Progress before and wandered what style of beer is best for them??

I use Northdown regular in pale ale/bitters. Have also used progress for the same style of beers but only occasionally. Challenger is very similar to Northdown and is one of the hops I have used the most over the years goes very well with EKG, very versatile.

i wouldnt say challenger is similar to northdown really. Challenger is an all round hop versatile in use where i thought that northdown was a hop to use sparingly in fact ive only used it once in a pale ale. northdown is very high in resins and mainly used for bittering

I use challenger and northdown with target for bittering in my fullers esb clone along with ekg for aroma. Also used them in my barley wine.

You could use the Northdown with Fuggles and Goldings to do a Bathams Bitter from GW's book which is a cracking pint :thumb:
