Are there any problems if you transfer beer from a FV into a king keg too early?
My current batch of Muntons gold imperial stout is still fermenting (although slowly) and i was keen to get it into my king keg as my last imperial stout kit got left longer than necessary and turned sour and had to be thrown. I am fermenting with an airlock to try and prevent this again but was wondering whether a slightly early kegging was good or bad? The specific gravity has'nt yet been achieved but as i've read on the forum the grvitys are sometimes higher in stouts than in bitters. Is the target of 1014 given on the box unrealistic?
any thoughts? :wha:

Sometimes Muntons kits get a bit 'stuck' at the 1020 mark and the yeast needs a bit of rousing to finish it off. Sterilise a beer paddle with a quick spray of 70% meths and give the brew a gentle but firm stir, being carefull not to splash. This is normally enough to rouse the lazy yeast and get it working again.
If you have racked off at 1020 your brew will still ferment further as the amount of sugars left are still a viable source of energy for your yeast.
