I've currently got a Geordie Lager kit bottled up but wondered if I've made a boo boo. Having fermented the brew in a fermenter with an air lock, I transfered it to another fermenter, again with an air lock and added my finings.

Unfortuneately, due to having to go away for a week (holidays as opposed to prison) I had to leave it at that.

I have then primed my bottles with about a 1/4 spoon of sugar.

I left it for about a week before opening a bottle.

Two things. It still looks a bit murky and second, it's not carbonated at all. Should I have bottled it sooner and is it now a lost cause fizz wise?

I'm still pretty much a novice at this so any help is gratefully received.

I have only used finings once but it quoted a 2 - 3 week conditioning time, if you went to the trouble of putting it into another FV you could have batch primed with about 1/2 - 1 tsp of sugar per bottle or 80 - 100g for 23ltrs, not unless you didn't have time to bottle it (look in the search engine on batch priming)?

did you put the bottles in a warm place for the week? it really needs 10 -14 days in the warm then 4 days in the cool.

don't know why it's still cloudy mine dropped clear after 2 days after bottling.

Just my opinion

Enjoy

It does really need longer than a week in the bottle in order to carbonate.

I would also think you didn't use quite enough sugar either, I think for lager you want nearer to a tsp per 500ml bottle.

Give it a bit longer and it should carbonate a little bit and will settle. This brew is never going to be super fizzy though I'm afraid.
