Apart from the sweetening and taste altering effects of white sugar, is it different to using brewing sugar in any other way? is it better or worse?

I use dextrose purely because it is supposed to be preferable to white sugar and was cheap in Morrisons.

I prime with normal sugar , I have tried dextrose to prime but I find I get better carbonation using normal sugar

You can prime with many different types of sugars, there is a good table in John Palmers book on how much of each different sugar to add based on cane sugar being the baseline. Here's the link Linky

The reference is in Chapter 11 but I note that my hard copy of the book has the table whereas the online version does not. I think I have the 3rd edition whereas the online version is an early draft
