Hi all i have 2 batches of stout ready for kegging a hbc stout and a guiness clone i pinched off the web .
The thought is to prime with black treacle to add a liquorice aftertaste to it has anyone tried this does it / will it make any difference to priming with sugar.

I primed a poachers choice clone with licorice and black syrup, tasted lovely. I'll dig out the recipe for amounts. I also added it to my last stout at flameout. Again, cracking taste to it.

I've added star anise towards the end of the boil. That was nice. Same for black treacle. I don't think priming with black treacle is going to add much, especially in a flavourful stout.

Edit: I could be wrong. MM's link looks interesting.

I added some liquorice at flameout so might just leave it to that
Or as i am minikeging may try one with treacle and see if there is any difference
