Hi, I'm a fairly inexperienced home brewer trying to get back in after a bit of a break, I'm considering doing the Cooper's European Lager kit in the next few weeks and laying down for December, what I was wondering is if I stick in a pressure barrel after fermentation and leave to condtion for 3 months can I subsequently transfer to bottles, or will it spoil doing it this way? Also, if I do this do I need to prime the bottles even though the barrel was previously primed?

If you were to put it in a pressure barrel for 3 months you don't really want to bottle it then, it would also be very hard to do as if you primed the barrel the beer would be fizzy, transferring fizzy beer into a bottle isn't easy, and you would lose the fizziness in the process so need to re prime the bottles.

Personally I would bottle up front, rather than using the barrel, and just leave the bottles for 3 months before you drink it.

Cheers, I might skip the bottling and drink from the keg, in December there's more chance of me getting through it (with a little help from mates etc) before it goes stale. I'll probably invest in a pressure injector for the barrel, so I can top up the c02 when I use it, hopefully that will keep it fresh longer.

I want to use my bottles for something else in the short-term, something I can drink between now and then.

I bottle from the cornie keg, but i chill to -2 to stop the loss of carbonation. Works great and get no overflowing in the bottle.
