Does anybody else bother to sterilise their boiler and water storage/ treatment pot. I.e. vessel’s used pre-mash ????

It’s a habit I seem to have got into and I just wanted to see if it really is wasted effort.

Clean yes .. . disinfect no . .. little point really as its all being boiled in the boiler.

i give all my equipment a good clean after a brew day, the another good clean before i brew again. Dont bother steralising tho as i honestly think ther isnt any need.

Same here, boiler and mash tun are well washed and dried after use, stored in the shed and rinsed before next mash. FVs and DJs are washed and sterilised after use and stored with a couple of pints of sulphite solution to keep them sweet and good-to-go (shaken occasionally), then just get drained and a quick rinse before next use.

Yep - sanitise and sterilise post boil - wash clean preboil. And always clean everything straight away.

I clean after the brew, then just wipe with some damp kitchen towel before my next one.

No point going overboard with cleaning and certainly no point sterilising.

Is your malt clean? I dont think it is. Its got all bits of extraneous material in there, the odd bit of hay or grass or insect, for example.

I give my tun and boiler a good clean after brewday.
Then they are wiped down and put in the attic.
I just give them a good rinse under the showerhead again on brewday as I figure everything gets nicely dealt with during a 90 minute boil.

Same here, clean up after the brew and a quick dust off before I brew again!!
