I needed to make a starter for my WLP001 of 1.3L.
As I only have 1 Litre conical flasks I needed to do a two stage starter.
I used https://www.brewersfriend.com/yeast-pitch-rate-and-starter-calculator/ to calculate that 2 0.75L starters on a stir plate would do the job.
The first starter went perfectly however the second, presumably due to a good amount of active yeast, overflowed the flask and I would guess that I have lost at least half of the yeast, if not more.
As most of the good active yeast would have been the stuff ejected can this be rescued?
I have now ordered a 2L to avoid this issue in the future!
