Have been looking at a few recipes for light Lagers for SWMBO and noticed that they like their corn.Done some investigating and have seen a few using Popcorn. Now the popcorn must not be shelf bought microwaved or pre-sweetened/salted in a bag.I've recently purchased this which I intend to cook off in a dry pot and add to the mashtun.Just looking to see if anyone else has tried or their views.

for an example (not a recommendation of the seller..)
it will let you pop corn and 'toriffy' wheat, and toast barley in small batches and even roast coffee beans too

and you can have some cheap healthy sofa snacks too..

Okay, my daghter watched over my shoulder and said Oh my god. Now, if you can explain how it toasts barley in small batches I cannot do but buy one.

If you have a slow cooker you might try that.It took about 4 hours to do that FV but the aroma was amazing...:thumb:

All mashed in and tucked up for an overnight mash.Put a recipe together for Popcorn Porter using the robust porter style and the smell of chocolate and popcorn is making me hungry though my missus was overly impressed...

pop a handful of grain in the popcorn maker, you can getaway with 2-3x the amount of grain as you would add popcorn as it wont pop and take up more room.

if when running the grain isnt mixing and turning over with the hot air blown through it you have too much grain in there..

Keep an eye on it and you should see a gradual change as it toasts..

Why would you want to do this? how does "popped corn" benefit any beer?

So ended up with 22.5l and og of 1.057.Well chuffed and pitched CML real ale yeast at 2.15 today before doing the school run and my airlock is pressurised already.Need to keep an eye on this one I think.
