Well don't know about everybody else but our fruit crops last year were, poor to say the least. So this weekend I'm going to help alot of people around the Measham Area ready for this Years crops :thumb: One thing We noticed was a distinct lack of bee's in our area, maybee seen one or two the whole summer, it's not one thing you pay attention to. Having looked around found the British bees are Struggling so I'm going to help out.
I start my Bee keeping course with the Wife this weekend, She has been told not to name them all as pets  But looking forward to our increased crops and a free supply of Honey for Beer and Mead making

Should be a nice way to spend the summer tending our bees, 1 Hive to start with then looking for another if there's enough pollen out there for them.

To the Bees

You'll not be short of willing volunteers to test your honey for you! :thumb: Great idea.

I do believe that very often, a bad year for fruit is followed by a great year for fruit.

I must take my hat of to you, where do you find the time. There are are there obviously no ends to your talents. Well done Nick :thumb: :thumb:

Time is what you make of it........ No pesky kids, helps with time in our case, good luck to all that have them, but it's not for me!
And 6 months a year off work helps :thumb:

Ah thats were I went wrong two kids and obviously no time of work.

How do you manage the 6 months of work :hmm: :hmm:

4 on 4 off shifts, add to that 17 days Hols, really is 5 1/2 months.

My father in law used to do something similar 12 hrs days and nights with long 18 day breaks that worked out as 6 months off.

I knew a diver once who would work for 12 weeks then be off for 8 weeks. He would spend the winter in Australia and collect houses from the proceeds of his dives.

Nice one Nick.... When I find the time I'll definitely have to follow your lead. I hear that London honey is good quality because of the amount of flower gardens here.... no idea if that is true!

Well done Nick (and mrs Nick!)

I would take that to be true, up here I'm going to have to split the honey and take some out first as this will mainly be Rape seed honey and needs to be treated differently to the blossom honeys. But still looking forward to it, pics will be up along the summer.

I do 4 on 4 off as well Muddy... plus another 26 days holiday. I'm soooooo glad I don't work Monday to Friday :D (even now I don't have enough time to do all the stuff I want!)
