I was given a carrier bag of plums the other day from my neighbour (he got several bags from Freecycle) - they are so ripe that they were leaking out of the bag

I decided to have a go at jam making tonight and am pretty pleased with the results

It seems that plums are a good fruit to start with because they have high levels of pectin :thumb:

SNAP!

My Mrs converted 3lbs of plums into Jam today - plums courtesy of MD :thumb:

Wez received a bag full of my plums the other day. I believe they are now jam as well!
Have yet to do my jam but with 30lbs of them it's a big job!

MD - i'm ready for another of your plum deliveries if you are struggling ;)

Will you be doing another pre-dawn plum delivery?

Can we have a thumbs-down smiley as well please.

Plums can be a bit of a bugger for winemaking, for exactly the same reason :(

Having found it not entirely unenjoyable ;) I'm going to start collecting jars from now in so I don't have to go scrounging them at the last minute again

30lbs of plums is a lot to work with - you will end up with jam coming out of your ears!

2 years ago we got 50lb off the tree. We made 20lb of it into jam so that was 40lb in 1lb jars. the just was frozen for plum puds all year long!!
