Please help 1st brew

Hi guy's

I got a brewbuddy lager kit and started it on monday 16/1/12 and followed the instuctions on the box, I currently have it in a dark cupboard and yesterday it had a froth on the top (bad i know but i peaked) but that has died down this morning i have not lifted the lid but can see through th fv and there is also a slight smell in there. But there seems to be pressure as the lid bounces back when i push on it the og was 1042 @ 21.c. if the above makes any sense some advice / re-assurence would be great. :hmm:

Doesnt sound like theres any problems there to me . Many lager kits come with top working ale yeasts or even combinations of top and bottom workers which throw a head up in the first days . Bad smells are common with any fermentation . What exactly is worrying you mate ? As long as you are scrupulous about hygeine you should do fine . :

Sounds fine Steve, just give it time to ferment now. I made a lager kit once that stank of sulpher, the drink was fine. Just keep everything clean and watch your temps while fermenting, shouldn't have any problems

Thanks guys i dont no what to think really
I think i was expecting this super frothy bucket of activeness and it seems to be doing nothing? i can see why people say watching the airlock is adictive i think i am going to fit one on my next brew . on a positive note i just picked up 60 green and brown bottles from someone on freecycle (Thanks again if your reading this) and on opening the box there are a few swing top bottles over the moon with that. :drunk:

I recently gave away around 60 bottles on freecycle, then almost immediately regretted my decision. Oh well.

Much appreciated, but I'm miles away. It's ok, I quickly got my stocks back up thanks to Morrisons opening up around the corner. Also I have a couple of friends on the case, and they drink a fair amount of bottled beer each week.

Doesn't sound like a problem Steve, it takes time. Have fun, let us know what it taste like when its finished :)
