Hi,

New to this and I'm currently gathering kit. What are peoples views on using diy plastic kettles? I am planning a system where I hope to make lots of small batches to experiment with recipes and ideas(as I am a begineer) and want to keep costs down. When I am happier with what I am doing then I would invest in some bigger better kit. As a result I am thinking of crafting some small kettles so I can run 2 or more boils with the same wort but so I can try different hops and techniques.

Does anyone know the best way for me to do this? ie, which is the best tea kettle to take apart or where can I get the element and fitting etc...

I think I will make a mash tun from a cool box which seems pretty straight forward.

Already have some great beer names and recipe ideas :)

Kind regards

Rob

im a bit confused on this one.
Are you thinking of boiling your wort in the kettles? or are you going to use the kettle elements to make a boiler?

just re read your post. most people on here use the Tesco kettles. If you do a search you will find a few post on making boiler using elements and FV's. Im sure MD did one and his worked out very good.

Edit
Done a bit of searching and here is the post MD did.
