After a few less than great recipes i shall now be brewing this 1 on sunday , using my new fav malt carawheat for aided colour and flavour while using carahell for a slight caramel taste . I shall be increasing the ibu a little compared to my pale version and fermenting slightly lower than my pale too ( pale 22c , this 20 c ) for less banana . I shall also be doing a long decoction for maltiness and colour as fitting the style

I shall now be doing this monday , still a little hung over from last nights fun (lasted till 5.30 am ) so i'll have a easy sunday for a change ( just as well cause my brew fridge is being used still from last mondays hefe )

Got this on today , started late again but all went well and i even attempted a bit of a video which i'll try and sort out soon .
Lovely colour , smells wonderful from a long decoction (35 mins boil ) got great efficiency with 1050 and 22 litres (aimed for 20 and 1048/9) .

I made this decoction video on the brew day but it's taken till now to get it sorted ( uploading etc) still not sure if i'm doing it right (computer stuff)

Loving the vid, just one question, is Decoction worth it........

I have been toying with the idea of having a go and think it might be a bit beyond me at the moment. :?

If you wanted to do a step mash then doing a decoction is 1 way to get the next temp change . But for me i wanted to get a dunkel without any choc or other really dark malts and needed to darken the beer plus doing a decoction gives you are more malty taste which is ideal for the style . It really is easy .
