I have a beer fermenting in the garage right now, let's call that beer 1.
I'm going to make another beer today, let's call that beer 2.
Beer 1 has been fermenting for around 3 weeks now, had an OG of 1.092 and is at around 1.020 but still fermenting away quite nicely. The only thing is beer 2 ideally needs the same yeast strain as beer 1, but I don't have another pack and wanted to reuse beer 1's yeast.
So, to overcome this problem, can I rack beer 1 to another FV, harvest the yeast and pour half back into beer 1 and the other half into beer 2?
Ive read not to pitch into yeast cake directly as it can count as over pitching.
Beer 2's target OG is 1.082.
Thanks
