Increase by 2 per cent above the RPI on 28 March 2011.
This will add 4 pence to the price of a pint of beer, 15 pence to the price of a bottle of wine, and 54 pence to the price of a bottle of spirits

Government will introduce a new additional duty on beers over 7.5 per cent alcohol by volume (abv) in strength at a rate of 25 per cent of general beer duty.
This will add 25 pence to the price of a can of super strength lager.
 
I really do feel for landlords/landladies at the moment.
The recent VAT rise and now this.

Only one thing for it....................brew more!
Just don't be taxing my malt!!

They have already stuck vat on, I bet they will if it proves to sucessful.
 
I'm all for supporting the real ale pubs, but it's getting stupid. I'd rather stay at home, and not have to pay £25 for a taxi to Burton and back, then pay more tax on beer.
 
I hear what you are saying muddy and I will continue to support the local pubs in my village that stock real ale.

I don't pay any VAT on my malt.......saying that, I haven't seen the invoice for my latest pick-up yet :pray:

:shock: thats the same price as a 25 kg bag of Marris Otter from Rob, 'The Malt Miller' :hmm: time to get planning the next brews methinks, I haven't brewed for three weeks :eek: :oops: going to pour a beer and start planning :drink:
