SWMBO said that on 'the wright stuff' they had a story about a proposed ban of pint glasses in all pubs, bars and clubs...

Drinking my beer at home 99.99999999% of the time i personally couldnt give two hoots.

any thoughts anyone!?

They can ban "Pint" glasses for me.
I'll drink my beer from a 570ml glass instead :thumb:

lol, goin metric wont get past mr brown!!

he'll have you suppin out of plastic!

strange tho im sure i heard glass is better for the environment, easier to recycle etc

Yeah seen that here :

Personally I wouldn't go to drink in a pub where there were only plastic glasses available, in fact recently I went to a party and knowing that there would only be plastic glasses I took my THBF glass along ;)

Do people really think that drunk people wanting to hurt someone won't find a way to do it if they really want to? It may make it a bit harder...but.

Maybe pubs should be graded on location and pub type from low risk (country pub few villagers and a dog) to high risk (town centre busy loud and packed) and for it be made compulsory by grade....?

or perhaps just use plastic after certain times, or large groups of rowdy youngsters... i live in a very small rural (ish) town, we have six pubs, all are rough as arseholes.

Going back to the early 70s all beer was served in plastic pint glasses in ballrooms in the UK (the sort of places we baby boomers would go to see 10cc or Joe Cocker in concert or indulge in what was later to evolve into the 'rave' scene). They've been round a long time like yours truly

At the risk of repeating my own joke...

They can have my pint glass when they prise it from my cold dead face.

I can see two sides of this coin. Firstly I hate drinking from the traditional plastic pot that you get at outdoor events. I did get caught out with one a few months back which looked like glass felt like glass, and I said bollox it is when I was told it was plastic. However it was stupidly expensive.

On the other side I have to deal with teh aftermath of some bloke who got in a scrap in a pub and threw his punch and in his fit of rage forgot he had a glass in his hand. Bang he is in court and some poor barsteward is scarred for life - at the very least..... That cant happen with plastic, the punches will still be thrown but the carnage doesn't follow.
A point to consider. A GBH gone wrong is murder

Worst I've had was at London's IMAX cinema paying £3 for a pint of Cobra in a paper cup. But it did mean I got to see Star Trek on Britain's biggest cinema with a beer.

IMO plastic glasses have their places, ie outdoor events, concerts etc, but banning them in pubs is an absolute outrage and it really fecks me off hearing this sort of sh**e.
1 in 13 cars is uninsured in Britain and they are responsible for more deaths and injuries than any glass pint has ever been. Get a grip journalists and try not to lose sight of what's really important, there are a lot of other 'good' causes.
Just in case the do gooders might have missed it, the plastic fork served with fish and chips can be pretty lethal in the right hands, as can a broken tea cup. Slippery floors in the U.K account for more injuries than 'glassing' injuries, as do wonky paving slabs.............don't get me started
