pils 12 or 20 litres

Hi All,
The Pils beginners kit I started yesterday had a choice of 12 or 20 litres of beer with the only addition 1kg of sugar.
I am thinking this may be common to a number of kits( I went with the 12l) would there be a likely difference in 'quality' between the two options?

Which kit is this? Are you saying that you either use the kit on its own to make 12L or you use the kit + sugar to make 20L? If so, then the 12L will be higher quality as adding sugar will make the beer have less body.

It is a Brewferm Pils kit.
Being new to this and as it is a beginners kit I was slightly surprised at a choice.
I went for the 12l as an uneducated guess!
