I'm gonna knock together a batch of my (world famous  ) Fools Gold tomorrow, i want to add a bit of spiciness to it and was thinking about 30grams of crushed black pepper in the last 10 mins of the boil. Have any of you guys used pepper in a beer before? am i adding to much or to little?

:hmm: Pepper in beer........although I like pepper I would'nt have thought it would be nice in beer but I may be wrong good luck with this one if you decide to brew it :thumb:

mad as a bucket of eels, mind you I did a summer fruit wit with , err summer fruit (strawbellies, blackberries, red and black currants) corriander seed (crushed) and orange zest so I must be a bit mad too, but not as much as a bucket of eels, coz they is just crazy.
I'd say 20-50g per 20 ltr ;)

I'd suggest that you try adding a dozen chile peppers in the beer as well, just to make it taste extra special

Actually i'm using the pepper to substitute Grains Of Paradise which was in the first ever Fools Gold i did, that had about 15-20grms in 25L and it turned out real nice. Maybe i'll go with 40 grms :hmm:
I do just want a hint of it
