heya guys, how should i be pitching my pectolase ?

i just wonder as have been looking at many delicious recipes and cant wait to start getting on to this as have just pur-chased a demijohn cleaner as have many glass 1 gallon bottles that have green fur in them waiting to come to life with many an infusion

+ is there a way to check if pectolase is in date ?

My little container is made by Youngs and has a best before date on it but I have used old stuff in the past that still worked so I'm not sure it matters that much if you are a year over it.

I put mine in at the same time as yeast nutrient and yeast as I don't want to be opening things up if I can avoid it.

With your demijohns you need to clean, clean and clean again if they are that bad, and new bungs and traps would be safer too. I would start with a cheap oxi cleaner full in each then VWP the same & brush until it is sparkling, and then starsan or no-rinse cleaner after that.

I would go further than Richie_asg1 and buy a load of Thin Bleach from Tesco or Morrisons.

At +/-10p a litre I would stick at least two litres into each DJ, swirl it around, leave them for a few of days (with a few swirls every day) and then start the cleaning process with a really stiff brush to scrub out the insides.

Obviously, after the DJs glass has been cleared with the bleach and they all look clean they will still need to be rinsed and then sterilised and rinsed again before use.

After that "Good Luck!" :thumb: :thumb:
