PECO Boiler EB1 vs EB1D

Hello all. I'm going to buy one of these but not sure if the EB1D is whorthwhile. Is it easy enough to get your temps with the EB1 model?
Also, I was thinking of adding one of these screw on mesh filter to screw onto the inside of the tap to help fiter the trub a bit. What you think?

What is the difference in spec between the EB1 and the EB1D?
A quick google seems to suggest they both have a temperature controller.

I think the EB1D is whorthwhile, because it will be more accurate because it is digital.

I won't bother with the stainer.
Get a bouncer they are super and there is a copy on amazon for about £12.

Better still buy a simple inline (solar) pump for recirculation and you could have a superb setup, as good as any stainless AIO used manually.

Lots of bang for your buck, and don't let anyone tell you stainless makes better beer

Dont suppose you might recommend one for the pumps? surely a solar one s pretty limited in UK

from what I can tell, the non D version is essentially a voltage variable dial that lets you turn up the power of the heat element.
whereas the D version has a control box that lets you direclty input the T deegres.

FWIW I burnt out my old controller on my EB1D and I now use a Wifi Inkbird to control it. Which I can reuse for fermentation control, and which allows me to monitor my mash/boil from my phone whilst in another room or the garden. You need to crosscheck it with the actual temperature of the liquid and adjust accordingly as there's a small deviation of 1-2 degrees, but otherwise it works fine.

As long as you use proper high-temperature kettle leads. Don't use the nearest computer lead as the latter really don't like to be plugged into a copper of boiling wort, they can't take the temperature....

I did BIAB for about two years in a very basic Peco (no temperature controller) and it worked really well. I used to get the mash temperature up to 72 degrees and by the time I’d mashed in I was at 65-66. I then covered the whole thing with a blanket and temperature held fine for the hour, even though I brew outside.
