Pecan & Maple Stout

My Daughter in law had the above and I had a taste and it was lovely, so I want to make it. The question I’ve got is when to add the pecan nuts and how many for a 12 litres batch. Also do the nuts need to be roasted?

That’s exactly my dilemma. I’ve seen it in the mash, primary and secondary. Maybe I’ll do all three. I’ve no problem with Maple syrup it goes into the boil at 10 minutes.
