forgive my dumbness but i have brewed about 10 full extract kits and i love this new hobby, was looking at going deeper into it but money is a problem, id love to go ag but will take some saving up for all the shiney stuff you guys have!! :( somebody told me to try partial mash. i just smiled and agreed but i have no idea what the hell that means!! can you help??? :wha:
do i need more equipment? i have a good basic brewing set up if that helps?
thanks

So basically what you're doing is using a base malt extract, i.e pale malt extract then adding the wort from some speciality grains that you "mash" in a pot - so your Crystal, Roasted Barley, Munich etc, steeped in hot water.

Have a read of this: http://www.howtobrew.com/section2/index.html for the specifics :thumb:

partial mash is fine, very good indeed, but don't feel you need multiple shineys to go AG.
My first mash tun was a standard fermentation bucket with a grain bag wrapped in a sleeping blanket. it worked great. I now use a cheep cool box!
my boiler was an other fermentation bucket with a cheep kettle element.
I heated the sparge water with the kitchen kettle.
