Going to do a partial mash tomorrow, heres the plan.(please point out any errors!)heat about 3 litres of water and steep 250g crushed choc malt and 250 crystal malt. Then going to boil for about 60 after ive added some fuggles.Dump this in my fv and add betterbrew stout extract,1kg of muntons extra dark dme and water up to 23litre mark.wait for temp to drop and pitch yeast.I may then add some challenger hop pellets after a couple of days.Is this the right way to go anout this.what temp should my sparge water be?All replies are valued :drink: .Cheers.

What you plan to do is an extract. Steep the grains at 66C for 30mins. Remove and allow to drain (no sparse needed) then bring the wort to the boil and add your hops. Remove the hops after the boil and add to FV and continue kit as normal.

Forgot to say the reason not to boil the grains is because they will release tannins which will affect your beer.

When extract brewing you are using the grains to impart flavour and colour to the beer. When the grains are steeped there are no sugars release as the enzymes are not present so there is no need to rinse the remaining sugar from the grain however when you do a full mash you want to get all the sugars from the grain.
